Yasmine Chang (she/her), Editor-in-Chief
Senior Yasmine Chang spends her free time writing short stories and poetry, drawing on her love of reading and music.
Chang gains inspiration from these forms of art and uses them as inspiration for her work. Rick Riordan, Stephen King, and Phoebe Bridgers are a few from which she derives inspiration. “Seeing how people can add so much meaning into their writings and impact so many different people motivates me to do that with my own work,” Chang said.
Chang began writing stories and poetry in middle school after reading short stories by friends. “After I read them, I was inspired to write my own,” she said, but currently she is “not ready to publicize them” yet.
The stories she writes are original, but Chang takes some aspects of other works to implement in her writing, such as humor and writing style.
In the future however, Chang hopes to explore different kinds of writing, not just creative. “I don’t want to restrict myself to just 1 type of writing. That’s why I’m in journalism, I’m excited to expand my writing skills.”
This is currently Chang’s 4th year in journalism as the Editor-in-Chief, previously working as a staff writer and the News Editor.
