Breakfast with Santa Tradition Continues

The 8th annual Breakfast with Santa took place on December 12 at the Hacienda de la Flores. From 8:30 to 10:00am, Moraga families and their children enjoyed a breakfast buffet prepared by volunteers from the Moraga Youth Involvement Committee (MYIC). Children also had the opportunity to get their pictures taken sitting on Santa’s lap.

Members of the committee, including senior Nikki Taylor, arrived a couple of hours before to set up tables and to prepare a continental breakfast. The volunteers then greeted families as they arrived. Throughout the event, volunteers kept the food buffet stocked. After the families were done with their food, “the little kids would go up and sit on Santa’s lap,” said Taylor. The volunteers then helped to clean up the event site.

The breakfast has become an annual event. Kimberly Nelson, the MYIC advisor, said, “We have some customers who have attended every year and I’ve been able to see the children grow up. It is a great experience for all ages.”

Nelson said most Moraga events can change yearly, but some events are annual, including the Breakfast with Santa, Mother-Daughter Tea, and Moraga Triathlon.
