2024 Student Summer Life

In California, summer is a beautiful time with clear blue skies and beach days. At Campo, summer is a time to strike a balance between hard work and relaxation. Preparing for college life, traveling the world, and finding a job are just a few of the summer activities Campo students choose to pursue.

Freshman Angele Tseng is looking forward to the break. “I’m definitely excited. This second semester I’m feeling done with school,” she said. She hopes to prioritize getting healthy after having a sports injury and still, “staying in shape with cross-training,” Tseng said. However, the bulk of her summer she wants to dedicate to “family time; [her] brother is going into his senior year so my family is going to want to spend time together,” she said. Tseng will also “go to Taiwan to see family like [they] do every summer.” During her free time Tseng enjoys “volunteering at the Senior Center and talking with all the residents there. She want[s] to do that this summer.”

Sophomore Emmy Koehler is also, “excited for the school year to end and for summer to start.” One of her summer goals is to improve her driving and take lessons to prepare for getting her license. Koehler said, “the highlight of [her] break will be going on a road trip with [her] family around California.” She also has a senior sister heading off to college and hopes to make this road trip with her memorable.

Junior Helen Shephard said, “it’s important to relax over the summer and not stress.” Her family is “going to Africa for three weeks to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. It’s something [her] dad has always wanted to do.” Shepherd is also “visiting relatives in Nebraska which will be fun.” While she “is stressed about being busy and doing college stuff,” she is excited for these meaningful travel experiences.

Enjoying the long summer days is something many students use as motivation to get through the final push and stress of the school year. The summer of 2024 is approaching quickly and students have exciting experiences to anticipate.
