Holiday Cheer Gets Ugly

Holiday+Cheer+Gets+Ugly

Ugly is the new black.  Well, at least when it comes to holiday sweaters.

Senior class Vice President Sophie Seiberth said she wears her ugly sweater because the tradition is a lot of fun. “You can showcase your holiday spirit and no one judges you no matter how ugly your sweater is.”

In spite of the eyesore, gaudy holiday themed sweaters help build anticipation. “I think even though the holidays are a while away, it gets [everyone] excited and builds momentum into the holiday season,” Seiberth said.

“It just shows spirit and adds a little style,” explained Emma Bruce.

The Leadership sponsored “Wear Your Holiday Sweater Day” occurred on December 14. Seiberth said, “Participation is pretty good; even some freshman guys have gotten into it which is nice to see.”

Thrift Town in Berkeley, because of their large assortment of old sweaters, was a favorite destination for those looking to up their holiday spirit.

Fortunately, black never really goes out of style.
