Seniors Provide Backbone for Football

After being predicted to finish last in the DFAL in preseason polls, on Saturday, the Cougar football team will face Marin Catholic in the NCS finals at the Oakland Coliseum. No one expected them to get this far.

However, an invaluable group of seniors has been at the heart of their unexpected winning streak.

Led by standouts Griffin Piatt, Karl Thronton, Vince Graziano, and Dan Fadelli, the team features a total of 15 seniors this year. “They’ve been coming to the football camps ever since the 4th grade,” Head Coach Kevin Macy recalled. “The bonds that have been formed between them are some that can never be broken, and they’ve really played with that sense of togetherness throughout the entire year.”

Piatt, after Friday night’s semifinal win against Cardinal Newman, has amassed 865 receiving yards and a total of 13 touchdowns, as well as 8 interceptions on defense. “We have a lot of leaders between us seniors who have really stepped up for us this year,” Piatt said.
