Girls Waterpolo Drops NCS Final

After losing  3 starting seniors from last year’s section championship squad, the girls’ waterpolo team entered this season as the underdog. No one expected anything, according to senior co-captain Kimi Klein.

No one except the players themselves.

As it turned out, the squad made it to the North Coast Section title match, where they fell to top seed Las Lomas, 10 to 5. Klein said, “it was a good feeling to make it this far.”  Though, she did admit the final game was frustrating.

Klein was on the 2010 team, so she knows what it feels like to win a title.  It made coming up short this year a bitter pill.

Nevertheless, Freshman Hannah Buck said it was an accomplishment to finish second.  The rookie did not feel Klein’s frustration.

Prior to their NCS tournament run, the squad finished 3rd at the Nor Cal Tournament on October 29th. This was the highest a Campolindo team has ever placed at the event. The squad beat Las Lomas 7 to 6 in the 3rd place match.  The event brings together the top 16 teams in northern California.

The chemistry of the team, both in and out of the water, helped the squad during the NCS and Nor Cal tournaments. According to Klein, this team used bonding activities to make them trust one another.
