Campo offers students a hands-on study-abroad Oxbridge program in Paris, New York, and Barcelona.

Campo is offering the opportunity for students to attend the Oxbridge Academic Program over the summer, allowing those who take part to expand their studies internationally.

The Oxbridge Program is a study abroad organization in which students have the option to go to Oxford, Cambridge, Paris, Barcelona, or New York. The purpose of the program is to simulate a college experience, allowing students to dive deeper into their personal field of interest and experience it in a different environment.

The program is supposed to be hands-on, including exhibits, medical practices, museum visits, and more. Each place offers at least one day trip, depending on the city. In Paris, for example, students would get the opportunity to visit Versailles, whereas people who choose to go to the UK could potentially see Stonehenge.

Freshman Lucy Kao said, “I thought that it was interesting that they offer programs that help you get to know yourself…, because this is a really small community, so staying here can be difficult sometimes.”

Every location provides a unique learning experience, including learning about British sports such as cricket or rugby at Oxford, visiting orchard tea gardens at Cambridge, touring the Empire State Building in New York, exploring Luxembourg Gardens in Paris, going to local beaches, or attending concerts in Barcelona.

Staying for either one, two, or four weeks, attendees choose both a major and a minor to focus on, with each class being taught by a professional in the specific field. The classes relating to the major are six days a week, whereas the classes for the chosen minor are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Sophomore KT Thompson said they are interested in the program since, “It is a college preparation program and they have a major I would like to do.”

Thompson would like to go to Barcelona because of the “Culture and Cuisine Course” and is excited to “cook and learn how the food was created.”

Oxbridge provides housing, breakfast, and dinner. The students live in undergraduate dorms, having the options of single or doubles, and have access to common areas within the residences such as sports facilities. The residences also include 24-hour security.

The Oxbridge information pamphlet explained that speaking the language in the country a student is attending is not necessary, but they do provide language classes anywhere from beginner to advanced.

The application deadline is mid-February, and requires one teacher recommendation, specifically a student’s language teacher if they are planning to focus on studying a language. Financial aid is also an option that the program can provide for a student.

The Oxbridge Academic program promotes an in depth learning opportunity, combining travel and experiences with education.

Kao added that she would be interested in attending the Oxbridge London program because of the “More well-known schools” as her study abroad opportunity.
