Choir students spread joy with the annual Valentine’s grams this year!

Senior chamber choir students visited students throughout all class periods and sang Valentine’s themed songs to students on February 14. On the days leading up to Valentine’s Day, students had the opportunity to anonymously select another student to receive a song from the choir for $3, or 2 for $5.

Songs included “Gitchie Gitchie Goo” from Phineas and Ferb, “Lover” by Taylor Swift, “Just the Two of Us” by Bill Withers, “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel, and more.

Boys’ choir students showed up to classes dressed in suits to serenade the select students, while girls’ choir members arrived to classes in shades of pink, red, and white and used props to share Valentine’s cheer.

Freshman Alexis Awad said, “I think the Valentine’s grams this year were great and I loved it when I saw them in my classes.”

Freshman Maggie Mandell agreed and said that she “thought the Valentine’s grams were a super fun and engaging way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They were a great way to show love across campus.”

Senior Lauren Cadotte, a member of the choir, enjoyed visiting classrooms to sing and said, “It was really fun. Since the seniors didn’t get a chance to do it last year [due to COVID-19 restrictions], it was great to bring it back and go around the school spreading some Valentine’s spirit.”

Valentine’s Day grams have been a Campolindo tradition that students love and look forward to every year. Awad said, “I think the tradition of Valentine’s grams should continue because they are very funny and exciting to watch.”

Cadotte has been looking forward to being a part of this tradition for several years and said, “I have been looking forward to it since freshman year and waiting to get the chance to be a part of it and it’s a great tradition that seniors get to do.”

“I think this tradition should definitely continue throughout the following years at Campolindo,” said Mandell.

Cadotte agreed and said, “I definitely think they should continue [this tradition]. It’s pretty important and I think it’s a great way to show off to the school what being a senior in the auditioned choir requires, and it’s just a really great opportunity.”
