Principal’s secretary Carolyn Daughton was selected as the 2012-2013 Acalanes Union High School District Classified Employee of the Year. This is Daughton’s 2nd year in the position and 12th year employed in the district.

Daughton was surprised she won.  She said, “It’s an honor, but I also definitely know that it was just by luck that I got this because I feel there are so many qualified people.”

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1021 membership, the local union, selected Daughton for the honor on April 11. “I didn’t know really that I had won until I started getting emails and phone calls saying congratulations, and then I got a telephone call from a member of the union who notified me that they just released [the results],” she said.

This Classified Employee of the Year award is for Acalanes union employees who are not certificated.

Duffy praised Daughton: “She is so fantastic, an excellent blend of warm personality and very professional, knows what she’s doing, is always very helpful.”

Duffy added, “Everyone on the staff agrees that she was a great choice for this award.”

Daughton  said, “I absolutely love working here. I work for an amazing principal, principal John Walker, who is so great, and all the people in the office are great as well. I just love the whole teamwork and camaraderie of it all.”

She praised staff members like Registrar Deanna Rauch, who have welcomed her so warmly to Campolindo.

She added, “It’s a fun job that doesn’t even feel like work.”

Daughton will be honored at the May 15 AUHSD Governing Board Meeting.
