Principal’s secretary Carolyn Daughton and Attendance secretary Betsy Canty are the new faces of the office staff in 2012. The two replaced recently retired long-time staffers Mary Eggersten and Normand Giannotti, respectively.

Daughton previously worked at Acalanes, Miramonte, and in district offices before coming to Campolindo. “I wanted to be back working at a high school,” she said.  The mother of two grown daughters, she said that the energy on campus was one of the contributing factors to her decision to work here. She said that she liked the “wonderful, positive energy,” and added, “Campo has a lot of spirit.”

Canty, a mother of three Campo alumni, is making the transition between being a parent and a staff member. She said, “It is very interesting being on this side of the counter.” The “new perspective” has given her “a whole new appreciation for what Mr. Giannotti has been doing.” She applied to be the new attendance secretary because she “wanted to go back to work” and because her previous job required a long commute to the city.  She added that she also wanted to be a part of the Campo community.

Associate Principal Sharon Bartlett, a new new staff member herself, empathized with her new colleagues. She said that they are fitting in well and doing great.  She added that Campolindo has a “very supportive school and has a very supportive staff.”

The duties of the Principal’s secretary range from managing the master calendar to being the liaison between the school and the district. Daughton keeps official records and is, said Principal Carol Kitchens, “the face of the office.”

As the attendance secretary, Canty keeps attendance records of students and orders all school supplies. She is also the health assistant who acts as the nurse when the nurse is not present.
