At i-Tea in Moraga customers may have noticed the new colors, brighter lights, and warmer atmosphere. Over winter break the store underwent an interior remodel to create an updated, refreshing space for customers to enjoy.
While i-Tea has primarily been centered around colors like green and blue this year the store’s walls are shades of warm grey and light purple. i-Tea staff member Crystal Zhang said, “The colors were chosen for warmth to give the customers a bright and cozy feeling at i-Tea.” Some other changes included an extra wall installed near the back of the boba shop (for storing inventory), more tables with a slight change in layout, and a shift in menu placement.
Additionally, Zhang shared the deeper needs for remodeling beyond touching-up appearances: “Our walls and ceilings had a lot of water damage, which is why we replaced them and changed the chandeliers as well so that it looks brighter here than before.”
As the only boba store in Moraga, a fair amount of i-Tea’s customers are Campolindo students. Sophomore Jude Harkavy shared his thoughts about i-Tea’s remodeling, bringing up pros and cons about the new menu location: “I like the new table setup because now there’s an actual pathway for people to walk and get their drink, but I don’t think that the menu placement is very strategic because if you’re ordering at the cash register you have to look behind you. But I also guess that’s so people don’t crowd near the kiosk area and instead they all crowd at a different section of the store.” Harkavy explained that the menu placement could potentially be an issue for people who don’t go to i-Tea often, but not for regular customers like himself.
Another regular customer, freshman Giselle Smith-Vuong, expressed her opinion on i-Tea’s remodeling, specifically the changes to the flooring: “It was a really big surprise. The new remodeling makes the space feel a lot more open, and it just feels a lot nicer in general because before the floors weren’t that nice.” Smith-Vuong explained that even though the menu placement is a bit strange, she enjoys how modernized i-Tea now looks.
Overall, i-Tea’s remodel has refreshed the space visually and improved the overall quality of the store itself, creating a more comfortable environment for customers, including Campolindo students.
