Boys’ tennis beat College Park on April 23, improving their chances of earning a berth in the North Coast Section Tournament (NCS) the week of May 6.

The win also earned the Cougars their 2nd consecutive league title. Captain and senior Nick Bohm said, “Against all of the odds, we pulled through, match by match, and I am so proud of us.”

Junior Max Campos is one of several players who moved up to varsity this season after playing on the junior varsity team last year. “I was really excited to make it on the team because I was not expecting to make it. Once I got on the team, I knew I had to prove myself, so I pushed myself to be the best that I could and contributed as much as possible to the team,” he said.

Campos played doubles with junior Sanjeev Sarin and won crucial matches against College Park and Las Lomas that, according to Bohm, kept the Cougars in playoff contention.

Senior Cal Hunter’s mid-season patella dislocation was a challenging setback, but he managed to return before the end of the season to win several matches.

“Although we may have gone through a rough patch in the middle of the season, I am so glad we were able to pull this off. Also, it makes it even better that we won on senior night in front of all of our family members and friends who came out to watch,” said senior captain Eden Yu.

After the match Hunter, Bohm, Yu, and senior Rory Miller were presented with gifts and speeches by the coaches and players to thank them for their hard work over the years.
