Rain Thwarts Softball Expectations

Girl’s softball lost to Alameda High School 5-4 on March 14, a tough setback for a squad with hopes of besting their record from the 2018 season.

“We are going to get them next time. This loss won’t get our team down,” said sophomore Cassie Charlton.

As the only squad in the district to have won an NCS game last year, the squad is under pressure to win again this season.  The loss is the 1st of the season for the Cougars.

Senior Katie Poole is confident her squad will meet these expectations. “I think we’ll probably do as [well] or better than last year,” she said.

Sophomore player Lindsey Home agreed, “I don’t think this loss is going to be a consistent trend.”

Unfortunately, the biggest challenge in 2019 hasn’t necessarily been the opposing teams.  The rainy weather has already forced several games to be canceled. If the weather permits it, the softball team will host its next game April 9 against Mt. Diablo High School.
