Football Wins NCS Title, Again

With a 38-28 victory over the Analy-Sebestapol Tigers on Friday night at Diablo Valley College, the Cougars won the North Coast Section title for the 2nd year in a row.

Campolindo scored the first 28 points in the game, but Analy mounted a furious comeback. By the 4th quarter, Analy had pulled to within 10 points, down 31-21.

That was as close as the Tigers would come however. With 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter, junior quarterback Jacob Westphal threw a 6 yard pass to senior receiver Max Flower to put the game away.

Flower finished with 9 receptions for 108 total yards.

Campolindo’s defense was stressed by Analy’s offense throughout the night, but still managed to keep the Tigers under pressure. Junior Niki Moore sacked Analy quarterback Jack Newman, blocked a key Analy field goal and had a huge night offensively, rushing 19 times for 162 yards.

After the victory, head coach Kevin Macy, Athletic Director Tom Renno and Principal John Walker were presented with a banner and plaque recognizing the championship victory by Gil Lemon, NCS Commissioner.

Campolindo will play the Division 1 Milpitas Spartans for the NorCal title at home on Friday, December 11.
