Boys’ Polo Cruises through NCS Opener

Boys’ water polo beat Alameda 17-4 in their NCS first-round playoff game on Thursday, November 5.

Senior Captain Cole Stevens won the 1st sprint, while senior Goalie Nikhil Suri blocked 2 out of 4 shot attempts. Stevens scored, along with junior Wayne Hawkins, who put 3 in the net, and senior Cullen Jacuzzi, junior Peter Brassinga, senior Captain Yuri Hanley, sophomore Christian Meckfessel, and sophomore Tommy Hawkins, who each contributed a point. The Cougars were up 9-2 at the end of the 1st quarter.  They were 9 for 11 on shooting accuracy.

The 2nd period began with Stevens again winning the sprint. Suri shut down Alameda’s attach, blocking 3 out of 3 attempts while Campo continued their offensive success. Jacuzzi, sophomore Aidan Crouch, freshman Beck Jurasius, and freshman Giorgio Alessandria all found holes in Alameda’s defense, pusing the score to 15-2.

In the 3rd period, sophomore Goalie Ben Miller took to the cage, blocking 4 out of 5 attempts, while his squad’s offense cooled off.

The final period began with sophomore Cole Lauritzen winning the sprint. Miller blocked 3 out of 4 attempts. Sophomore Nick Schroeder and junior Garrett Murphy scored, and the Cougars wrapped up the playoff win.
