On Feb. 20, Lindsay Webb-Peploe and her Leadership class hosted the annual “Peace, Love & Pancakes” event during academy. The entry fee was 10 dollars and proceeds went to the Vital Voices organization. Vital Voices is a global organization that supports political women leaders by mentoring them.

For the event, Leadership students made chocolate chip pancakes with toppings consisting of chocolate syrup, strawberries, and whipped cream. Most students brought their friends to the academy to hang out, eat pancakes, or just have fun.

Freshman Bailey Kill enjoyed how fluffy the pancakes were. “It was a very fun place to hang out, and just see all of your friends and eat amazing food,” Kill said. She recommended the event to peers looking to enjoy a stress-free time with a lot of pancakes during academy.

Philanthropy board commissioner junior Nora Lawrence said that her board collaborated with the Vital Voices organization. All of the profit that earned from the entry fee would be donated to Vital Voices. The supplies will be backed up from Vital Voices as the organizers of the event will be paying back “all of the money that we used from the school to buy the supplies for the event,” Lawrence said.

Another freshman who attended the event was Reese Kong. Overall, she enjoyed the selection of toppings and pancakes. She thought the concept of the event “was great, and it was a fun way to raise money and a great way to socialize and have fun.”

Students in attendance were able to experience the upbeat vibe and gathering provided by the pancake event. The event was a clever way to raise donations for an important cause and continue Leadership’s impact in aiding the broader community.
