On October 10, the senior class of 2026 embarked on the start of the end of their high school journey with their Senior Sunrise. The event consisted of breakfast for the seniors and lots of memories that will be cherished forever.
Despite a week-long delay due to concerns over a rainy forecast, seniors showed up with their blankets and friends, ready for an early start to their Friday morning. Senior Lauren Ji mentioned that “[the event] had a really great turnout. I was able to see a lot of my friends there.”
The event began bright and early for the seniors at 7:15 am. Students were greeted with breakfast from the cafeteria and instructed to find a place to sit down on the football field where they enjoyed the sunrise with friends. “The lighting was really nice,” Ji noted. “I know everyone got really great pictures. The lighting was just perfect.”
“I thought [senior sunrise] was really fun,” commented senior Daniel Siu. “As a senior, it was really interesting for me to be able to experience something that I’ve seen everyone else ahead of me experience as well.”
While the event can bring joy for seniors who are wrapping up their time here at Campo, the event is also accompanied by the sadness of leaving the place many have been for most of their lives. Ji mentions, “I’m a little sad because now that we’re seniors there’s a good chance I may never see a lot of these people again.” Siu feels similarly to Ji, stating that “It was a little bittersweet, obviously, because I am a senior and I’m going to be leaving high school, but also it’s kind of exciting because I’m embarking on a new adventure.”
Leadership also displayed a canvas banner for students to leave a handprint with paint to make their mark and leave a lasting impact on Campo. Ji admits that, “It hasn’t really hit me yet that I’m a senior. I still feel like a freshman sometimes.”
While Senior Sunrise marks an important time in the lives of all seniors, students are already looking forward to the end of the year with the anticipation of Senior Sunset. “I think the whole idea of having a senior sunrise and then senior sunset at the end of the year is a really cute idea,” said Ji, who noted that she has been excited to experience these two events for quite some time. “Everybody experiences senior sunrise and senior sunset at some point; it just happens to be my time.”
