The Acalanes Union High School District has begun accepting videos for the annual district film festival. Submissions are due by the end of April for a showcase on May 9 on the Acalanes campus.

Film submissions must be under 15 minutes in length, thought they may address any topic.

This is the 1st year Campolindo will be participating, although the festival began 3 years ago. “It’s weird how this festival has gone on for 3 years, and no Campo student has even submitted anything,” said sophomore Nate Dawson, a Video Production student.

Campolindo used to have its own film festival, “but it fell apart a few years ago,” said Video Production teacher Justin Seligman. He believes students haven’t been submitting any work to the Acalanes festival because “it’s much harder to get students to submit films to a different school.”

Dawson plans to submit his work. “I’ve made some really good content, and I would like to share it with my community,” he said.

Other participating students hope the event will provide exposure to their work while bonding with filmmakers at other schools. “It’s a great way to showcase abilities and bring the Lamorinda community together,” said sophomore Isabella Bartos.

“I would totally consider entering a film. It seems like a really good program,” said sophomore Kathryn Strohmeyer.
