A device used to compromise computer security was discovered attached to a classroom computer on March 23.  The identity of the teacher and the specific classroom has not been disclosed by the administration.

According to campus technicians, the device, which was plugged into a USB port, reads keystrokes in order to record passwords.

The keystroke logger monitors each stroke a user makes on the computer’s keyboard.

According to Principal John Walker, and investigation has been initiated in an effort to determine if security has been compromised and to apprehend the person or persons who may have placed the device on the computer. “We are speaking with some potential witnesses,” said Walker. “It was not [a] staff [member who perpetrated the crime.”

Campus staff have been advised to check their hardware and be more vigilant about computer security. “We are heightening awareness,” said campus technician Brendan Kearney.
