Featuring live music performed by the Jazz Band, the Jazz Dinner Dance, hosted by the Campolindo music department, entertained students and parents on February 27 at the Moraga Country Club.

The Dinner Dance is an annual fundraiser for the school. The musicians first provided ambience for dining, then provided more lively tunes for the dance. “For the dance we really show off our skills,” said sophomore jazz band musician Kyle Chuang. The band played 70’s music, performing songs like “Stayin’ Alive” and “Celebration”, along with other dance music and jazz standards. Junior Hayden Hunt provided the lyrics for “Yesterday” and “Come Fly With Me.”

“I suggest it to a lot of people because it’s really fun,” said Chuang of the event. “It’s a very light, and fun atmosphere. Personally, it’s one of my favorite events of the year.”

In preparation, the band practiced their pieces on a daily basis, mostly all together, but occasionally in smaller groups called combos. Each combo performed a few pieces on their own at the event, chosen by combo leaders.
