Coat Drive Supports Restaurant’s Charity

Leadership’s first annual coat drive took place through November 17. Students donated coats, mittens, gloves, socks, and other winter clothing to a restaurant called Salut, located in Richmond, where for the past 5 years, over 1400 free dinners have been served to the homeless on Thanksgiving, providing a feast for Contra Costa County residents who cannot afford their own. In addition to food and donated clothing, the restaurant provided free flu shots, along with a coupon for 10 free sandwiches and a soup servings.

Miramonte, Las Lomas, and a few elementary schools in the area also donated clothing to the restaurant.

According to sophomore class secretary Ethan Sauerberg, one of the people in charge of the coat drive, Leadership made announcements about the drive through the bulletin.

A donation bin was located outside the main office.
