Top Teen Tutors was founded in the spring of 2015 by siblings Anya and Austen Li.  The organization, which provides academic assistance to high school students, is staffed by 4 sophomores and 10 juniors.

The Li siblings started the organization to “give back to the community using skills they already have,” said Austen Li.

The organization currently offers face-to-face and Skype sessions. To schedule a no-cost tutoring session, students can go to topteentutors.com and fill out an application form to be matched with a tutor.

“When someone submits a form, Kaveh [Boostanpour] matches the requests to a tutor that would be best suited to tutor them according to skill and schedule,” said Claire Matranga, one of the program’s tutors. “It can be hard to juggle school, sports, and tutoring, but we get to choose what times we’re available to tutor, so that makes it easier.”

Although all the tutors will be graduating in a few years, Austen Li wants to keep the service going by recruiting younger people to become tutors in the future. According to Austen Li, prospective tutors can contact him to get a tutoring position. “As of right now, the existing team does all the recruiting, but if you want to tutor you can just contact me. We’ll probably start doing tutor applications sometime in the future,” he said. “We’re also looking to grow outside of Campo, expand the program.”
