World History teacher Greg McAdam has replaced Shannon Collins after she resigned the first week of the new semester. This had been Collins’ first year at Campo.
Collins informed students in her two classes the Friday before finals week that it would be her last day teaching. According to Collins, her reason for departure was a desire to spend more time with her children.
Collins reassured her students that a highly qualified replacement hired by Principal Carol Kitchens, would ensure a smooth transition, and that their second semester would not see a sudden change in teaching style.
Collins’ replacement, McAdam, has previous experience at Campo, having taught AP Euro and US History at the school last year. These credentials qualify McAdam to be appropriate for the temporary position. McAdam had the assistance of Collins to help him develop the necessary curriculum and instruction.
Freshman Kaitlin Steinleitner said of McAdam, “He has a different personality but seems to be pretty easy-going.”
McAdam said he has not run into any problems so far. He said, “There are good students, good curriculum, and good faculty support. It’s good to be back at Campo.”
Freshman Kelly Williams said the class is, “basically the same except he asks for more input. He encourages class discussion and connection to modern events, which is helpful.”
