Avengers Worth Watch in Spite of Invulnerable Heroes

Scott Fox, Staff Writer

Marvel’s The Avengers is the Holy Grail of movies based on comic books.

The Avengers slammed box office records by making over $200 million in its first weekend. The previous record for an opening weekend was held by Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2, which made just over $169 million.

The Avengers brings  everyone’s favorite super heroes into one movie. The Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man and Thor all star in this movie. In addition, they brought in two other superheroes: Black Widow, played by Scarlet Johansson, and Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner.

The movie pits the Avengers against Thor’s brother, Loki, in a war for control of Earth. The battles allow for incredible visuals comparable to those of Avatar.

The movie itself is an action packed thriller with some comedy mixed in. The combination of these elements, with small twists in the plot create a movie which will keep your eyes glued to the screen.

The only issue with this movie is the invulnerability of the Superheros. Even though this is a Marvel movie, it would have been better if the heroes actually had weaknesses. For example, in this movie, The Hulk seems to be able to destroy anything that comes in his path no matter how strong or powerful it is. Even the the less-powerful superheros, such as Hawkeye, appear to be invincible.

Overall this movie was fantastic. The plot and cinematics come together to create an incredible experience. This movie is a must see and definitely the best movie of 2012 so far.
