Boys Prevail on Senior Night
May 13, 2013
Varsity boys’ volleyball swept Acalanes 3-0 on May 1. The date also marked the senior night for the graduating members of the team. Bryan Lee and Reece Yamamoto were honored.
For the game, Lee chose to play outside hitter instead of his usual position, libero. Lee said the night was a “celebration of the final time of the season.” Lee will be attending UC San Diego in the fall.
Yamamoto has played volleyball since sophomore year, and this is his first year on varsity. One of his favorite aspects of volleyball is working as a team. Next year, Yamamoto will be attending Northeastern University.
Fans of the senior boys brought large cut-out prints of their faces. According to Lee, this is a tradition for the senior night.
After the 2nd set, the seniors were invited to pose with their parents for a photo opportunity, while coach David Chen reflected on their contributions to the team. Each senior also received a lupine plant in recognition of their talents.
The night brought a big win for the varsity boys’ volleyball team. While Acalanes came close during the last set, Campo managed to hold them in the end. “It summed up the season for us appropriately,” said Lee.
