As daylight saving time shifting our sleep schedules and sunset times, another clock is also ticking with the race towards the end of the school year. We always talk about things we want to do, yet we never find the time to do them. We make excuses about practice or studying for AP exams and forget about our goals or desires because we are always on a limited clock.
This year we’ve all experienced challenges, but we always find ways to get back on our feet. There is always that next move available to turn the tables favorably. The struggle of balancing ten different things at a time can be overwhelming, but as trees grow back their leaves and the hills regain their colors, we can always take a moment to look at the beautiful and complex world we live in.
As we debate and discuss politics and sports with our peers, and sometimes teachers, we see multiple opinions and perspectives that come from the diverse campus we walk the halls of every week. Everyone plays the game differently and has their own strategies for achieving goals. Oftentimes, we share the same goals but have different ways of getting there. Let’s approach this last quarter with an open mind. You might meet someone new or learn something different if we listen to each other.
We seek victory and success, but first we must make all the right moves to get to the end of the game. At this time of the year, when students dislike many aspects of life, focusing on our objectives instead of procrastinating or looksmaxxing can work wonders.
With one more quarter left we look at the short time left for us to get everything we wish to get done before summer. We have time to plan trash cleanup projects or to support our school at the many athletic events.
As our minds anticipate beach days and traveling the world, we must take every day one move at a time. One impulsive decision, and we could find ourselves facing checkmate.
