Snowy Hikes Highlight Yosemite Trip

Seniors participated in the annual Yosemite trip hosted by the science department and coordinated by science teacher Jane Kelson from February 4-13.

English teacher Jamie Donohoe was one of several Campolindo staff members who served as a chaperone on the train. “We went to hike and spend quality time with each other,” said Donohoe.

Donohoe said the goal of the trip was for “students to have fun before they move on to college and enjoy their high school years.”

In addition to daily morning and evening hikes in the snow, students and teachers also enjoyed sledding and snowball fights throughout the course of the week.

Senior Maddy Doane enjoyed spending time as a community of graduating seniors. “I like the fact that we were going on hikes every day, and I feel it helped us all get a little bit closer,” she said.

According to Donohoe, a highlight of the trip is the bonding experience that such proximity offers both teachers and students. “We all were having fun and just cherishing our last moments together at Campolindo,” he said.

Students on the trip tackled their chaperones in the snow, starting snowball fights and fort building competitions.

“The trip was a success. I will cherish those moments forever,” added senior Natalie Arnswald.
