Campolindo Student Aspirations for the New Year
As the craziness of 2021 has come to a close, the year 2022 is upon us. For many, a reset of the calendar means a restart; a fresh, clean slate to correct what was done in the past, and make changes for the future. The practice of developing New Years’ Resolutions has been around for 1000s of years, and remains an annual tradition for those young and old.
Each person’s resolution is unique to them. So what are Campolindo students planning on doing in 2022?
For some students, New Year’s Resolutions revolve around extracurricular activities.
“My goal [for 2022] is to push myself with sports, and continue to improve. Sports is something that is really important in my life, so I want to continue to improve over the next year,” said freshman athlete Ryan Rittman.
Freshman Maggie Mandell, a passionate dancer, said, “My new year’s resolution is to work hard enough to get [the role of] a Queen in my dance studio’s show, The Nutcracker. This has been a goal of mine for a long time, and I am so excited to continue to work hard and hopefully reach this milestone in 2022.”
Other students are looking forward to finding new experiences in the coming year.
Sophomore Soleil Porcella said, “I really want to travel more in 2022. Especially as we are hopefully moving past COVID-19, there are so many places I have wanted [to go to] over the past few years. So I hope I get to see a lot of places I have never seen [before]”.
Some students want to make small, but important changes in their everyday lives.
“I’m really going to try to manage my time better [in the new year]. Sometimes I find myself spending too much time on 1 thing, and not enough time on the other, so I think I will be a lot more productive this year if I am better at scheduling each day,” said junior Lauren Koob.
Junior Mira Shah said, “In 2022, I want to find a balance between the things I enjoy and the things that challenge me. Last year, I was getting really overwhelmed because I felt like I wasn’t finding enough time for all of the things going on in my life. I want to find new ways to stay motivated, and continue to do all of the things that I love going forward.”
A new year can also bring a bigger focus on the future.
“Since this is my last year at Campo, I obviously want to continue to work hard in my academics so I can get into college, and start thinking about what I am going to do after high school,” said senior Adriana Colon.
Whether someone’s resolution is small or big, with each new year comes an opportunity for all students to improve upon themselves, and look forward to the coming year.
