Alternative Education New Home for Drury
This October, Associate Principal Jonathan Drury left Campolindo for a new position. Continuing to work in the district, Drury has been appointed as the Coordinator of the Acalanes Center For Independent Study (ACIS) in Walnut Creek.
Attendance Technician Stephanie Sliwinski spoke fondly of Drury and praised his love for the community. “Mr. Drury is a 10/10, he cared (and still does) so much about Campolindo. I was able to work with him for 1 and a half years in the office. I will miss him, saying, ‘YES, Ms. S!’,” said Sliwinski.
Drury decided to leave Campo because he wanted to make a difference for students that don’t thrive in a traditional educational setting. In his new position, he will help ACIS create new programs and help individual student schedules.
Drury said, “Alternative Education and trying to figure out the Rubik’s cube for students to be successful in their education has been my passion for the last few years. I’ve seen that the traditional comprehensive high school just doesn’t work out for some students, for a variety of reasons, and this was an opportunity to lead an entire school/program that can make those students successful that might not have been previously. It’s just an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
1 of Drury’s favorite things about Campo is his interaction with students and staff. “If there was ever an issue or I needed help with anything I wouldn’t even need to ask, my amazing colleagues continuously helped me out and supported me as an administrator and friend,” said Drury.
Drury added, “All the students just seem to say ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’ all the time. This may not seem like a big deal to most, but it was a huge deal to me, the power of hello is real.”
“His sarcasm always makes me laugh, and he loves to talk to kids and make friends with them,” said senior Laura Studebaker.
As a final message, Drury said, “Campo will always have a positive place in my heart, and Cougs Don’t Lose!”
