Top Ten: Long Weekends Offer Local Adventure

Mia Jay, Staff Writer

With a couple of long weekends in our future, here’s a list of fun, local ideas for filling the extra time.

1. Binge “The Office” with your friends before it leaves Netflix on January 1, 2021, or have a Disney+ movie marathon of all the Disney originals from the early 2010s.

2. Hike 1 of the amazing trails nearby. The Marin Headlands and Tilden Park have gorgeous options. Or, adventure up Mount Diablo, which may have snow if you are in search of a white winter.

3. The Squeeze Juice Bar next to the Moraga CVS has healthy smoothies with fresh fruit and bursting boba add-in options, yummy food, hot tea, hot coffee, and hot soup. If you are tired of Starbucks’ high prices, Squeeze has more affordable options that taste just as good.

4. Play a game of laser tag with some friends at Q-Zar in Concord.

5. The Veranda shopping center in Concord offers many fun things to do in 1 place, including a lie-down movie theater where you can also order up dinner in your seat, a Dave and Busters with tons of games, and the thrilling Red Door Escape Room to test your survival skills. To top it all off, have a nice winter skate at the outdoor ice rink.

6. If you want an ice skating rink closer to home, there is a large outside rink in Walnut Creek where you can also warm up with delicious hot chocolate.

7. A day walking around Union Square in San Francisco can be fun with the clothing stores, ice rink, a number of delicious restaurants, endless photo opportunities.

8. A food truck lunch in the Presidio is delicious, and you can bring your friends to walk around the large, beautiful, oceanside lawn. Bring your furry companions too; it’s dog-friendly!

9. Go to the Moraga Commons for a photo shoot. Pictures at the Commons do not have to be limited to Junior Prom or Senior Ball.

10. Keep up with the thrifting trend and eat great food at the unique restaurants on Telegraph Avenue.
