Freshman Lyla Marcus' interests include traveling, participating in Girl Scouts, photography and journalism, and playing sports. Marcus' favorite place to travel is Hilton Head in South Carolina, and she spent her 9 years of Girl Scout service cleaning beaches, going to Costa Rica, and volunteering at senior centers.
Marcus joined La Puma's staff this year to learn more about photography and journalism, both of which she hopes to pursue in college. Marcus's true passion, however, is playing sports.
"I like the community that I'm part of and I have really good coaches," said Marcus. "It also gives me something to do."
She has played soccer for 10 years, softball for 9 years, and 1 year of baseball preceding her entry into softball. She hopes to continue playing softball after high school.
"My goal is to play in college," she said. "I really love the sport, and I don't want to stop."
