Campolindo Girls Basketball started their season off strong. The team played against Bethel High with a score of 50-24. The team expects to build on its foundation and aim for a successful season this year. “I expect us to be better than last year, and I think we’re on the path for that,” team captain Tori Gilbert said.
After their victory over Bethel High, the team had a 66-39 victory over Oakland. “It was just a really fun way to start the season,” Gilbert added, reflecting on their performance.
Senior Ali McCauley has high expectations as well. “I think we’re gonna be more intense than last year, more aggressive, and just be the underdogs,” she said. The team faced slight challenges at their Sonoma Valley tournament. However, the team managed to come back and finish 2-1. McCauley credited the team’s shift in momentum to their coach, Dough Cardoni. “We just started shooting with more confidence, we were making our shots, and we were playing aggressive on defense. I feel like that helped us.”
Senior Captain Raegan Shum noted that the team’s chemistry is already strong; she and Co-Captain Erin Campbell are “excited to see how the season goes.”
