Girls’ Lacrosse Wins DAL
Girls’ varsity lacrosse defeated the Northgate Broncos in their last league game of the season on April 29. The girls showed out at their home field to end their season with a bang by winning the DAL title. They dominated against the Broncos with a final score of 20-8.
The team took a decisive lead of 4-0 within the 1st 10 minutes of the game, and ended the first half with a score of 14-3. The top scorer of the game was junior Catie McCauley with a total of 6 goals.
“It was definitely a team game where we were all working together and everyone was working hard. As a team we did a good job feeding people the ball, and I just happened to be in the right place to finish it off,” said McCauley.
The team came onto the field with strong motivation and a large crowd to cheer them on while they dominated. Sophomore Molly Stephens said, “We had a really good team strategy and a good mindset going into it.”
The high energy definitely played a factor, allowing the team to “help eachother out when people would make simple mistakes,” said McCauley. The energy could be felt from the stands and had the crowd going wild whenever a goal was scored.
As their season came to an end, Stephens said, “I am proud of the games where we worked really well and hard together, and also where we scored a lot of team goals. I am excited to play next year and can’t wait to have another chance at NCS.”
McCauley reflected on their season and said, “I am most proud of how far we came and how much we were able to accomplish as a team. Hopefully we will have the same success next season, and we will hopefully win next year as well.”
The team did make it to the finals in the NCS championships, however they unfortunately suffered a 4-6 loss against Marin Academy in the last game.
