2nd Best Nationwide DMR Time Set at Track Meet
Campolindo’s track and field team hosted athletes from over a dozen schools on April 1.
From 1600m heats to a variety of different relay races, new records were set and memories were made according to sophomore Mari Testa.
“Although the COVID pandemic cut our season extremely short, this weekend’s meet was such a fun way to close the year and I truly think that everyone did their best. Although we may have not won every event we most definitely won in spirit,” said Testa.
One of the highlights of the meet was the highly competitive boys’ distance medley relay. Bellarmine Prep started off strong leading at the beginning of the race, however, Jesuit of Carmichael came through at the end for the ultimate victory. With the help of Senior Ajani Salcidos running his leg of the race at 4:10, they set a new record for 10:07.25, the 2nd fastest time in the entire nation for 2021.
Ranked at #20 on Campolindo’s all-time tracklist, sophomore Ellie Buckley didn’t disappoint for her final race of the season. Buckley got her PR of 5:10.62 on the 1600m, then ran again in her relay where she scored a time of 5:12.6.
