Boys’ Basketball:
Boys’ basketball started November 5 under varsity coach Matt Watson. Last year, the team was tops in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League, with an overall record of 21-7. Returning varsity player Ryan Smith said, “The team is looking forward to a great season.”
Girls’ Basketball:
Girls’ basketball tryouts were November 5 -7. The team is having their last open gym Sunday, November 11, from 2:00-4:00pm. There is a mandatory parent/player meeting November 8 at 7:30 in the Campo Library with varsity coach Leslie Elgen. Returning varsity player Laura Hickey said, “We have a lot of returners this year, so it will be a lot like last year, but I’m excited for some of the new players we have.”
Wrestling:
Wrestling season started Monday, November 5 under varsity coach Bob Mclaughlin. The team welcomes any new members, regardless of their level of experience. “There are no cuts,” said varsity player Eric Oeth. “Anyone can join the team,” he continued. According to Oeth, last year was a successful season. “We lost a lot of players, but our younger guys got much better,” said Oeth.
Girls’ Soccer:
Girls’ Soccer tryouts started November 5 on the upper field at 4:00pm. Last season, the team made it to the North Coast Section semifinals. Varsity player Shannon Stabler said, “It’s a lot of fun. We do a lot of fitness, but it’s worth it.” Varsity coach Ernesto Silva will be returning.
Boys’ Soccer:
Boys’ soccer tryouts took place on November 5-6 from 6:00-9:00pm at the turf field with varsity coach Shane Carvey. Players should have arrived by 5:45pm and brought cleats and running shoes to tryouts. “I think it will be really fun and we’ll do really good this year,” said varsity player Ryan Donat.
