Are Homecoming decorating parties worth attending in your freshman year? Many freshmen would agree that Homecoming decorating parties are fun and exciting ways to lift Campo spirit. This year, spread out from Sept. 8 to Sept. 18, freshmen Quinn Cohens, Ford Culleton, and Emery Spires hosted the three separate parties at their houses. Many freshmen attended and enjoyed the events. Students said they would likely come back again next year to have even more fun helping the school decorate for the Homecoming dance.
Decorating parties are an annual tradition that bring the student body together while preparing for the Homecoming dance. Each grade has a different decoration theme. All students are invited and encouraged to participate each year.
The Homecoming decorating parties for freshmen were lively and fun. At the parties, everyone picked up a job to help decorate for the big dance. Students worked with their friends on spray painting props and backgrounds. The parties also had free food available for students including Chick-fil-a, tacos, cupcakes, cookies, and chips.
The hosts were excited for their parties. Spires, a freshman host and member of leadership, said “We had a lot of fun.” When asked if she would like to host again next year, she answered, “Yeah, definitely. I also want to be in leadership next year again. So I’d love to host another one.” She highly recommended hosting to anyone who is interested.
The Homecoming decorating parties were relaxed, and didn’t mind last minute drop-ins. Anyone was welcome to join in on the fun and help decorate at any time between the designated hours, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Freshman Sloane Stemermen said, “It was so fun. Of course [I would come back here next year]. It’s like the best experience to get closer with the people in your grade I think.”
When asked if she wished there were more parties, Freshman Lia Drury said, “Yeah. It’d be so much more fun. I love parties.” Drury went on to recommend more freshmen attend the parties because it was a great way to make new friends. Personally Drury feels a lot more connected to Campo now.
The Homecoming decorating parties were a fun opportunity for freshmen to get to know their classmates better while also helping their grade prepare for the Homecoming dance.
