On September 11, the quad came to life during lunch for the annual Club Day festivities. Campolindo’s numerous clubs put together booths with signs and prizes to encourage new students to join.
After much preparation in academy meetings and organization from the student club leaders and faculty advisors, over 130 clubs are up and running for this 2024-24 school year. The clubs offer a wide range of categories including athletics, services, academics, affinities and hobbies. This variety gives students the opportunity to get involved in what matters to them or even start their own club that speaks to their passions.
Club Day, “went pretty well but was a little hectic,” said Senior Vivian Tolajian who is co-president of the Eco Club. She had participated in a club day before so she “knew what to expect.” To prepare, Tolajian “got snacks to intrigue people and set up a QR code for an online form… so it’s easier to create group chats.”
Other club members brought the goats from the garden to the quad to show what members will be involved in at weekly meetings. Tolajian noted that the club “got a good amount of sign ups and the leaders are hoping for a great year.”
Among the many service clubs, the Pledge to Humanity Club had a successful day with “around 30 sign ups” said Sophomore Olivia Chiarucci. She is a co-president of the club and to get more involvement from Cougars at club day, members “made posters, got candy, and wore shirts.” Chiarucci describes this club’s meetings to be “relaxed” and students will help to make “care packages and blankets for people in need.”
Freshman Annabel Inzeo went to club day for the first time this year and enjoyed the “nice vibes” and “had a lot of fun.” She enjoyed looking through the wide variety of clubs available to join. Inzeo decided to join a number of clubs including “Baking Club, Saga (Sexuality and Gender Alliance), and Eco club.” She plans to attend meetings with her friends and is “really excited for the Baking Club.”
