On Friday, March 8th, MSA (Muslim Student Association) gathered after school to decorate the hallways to celebrate the beginning of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide and is part of one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a month of fasting, worship, service, communal gathering, and spiritual development. During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset as an act of sacrifice and self-restraint. Ramadan encourages Muslims to consider the less fortunate than themselves.

(she/her)
Freshman Laiba Khan is a Journalism 1 student writing and taking photos for The Claw.
Although Khan has little journalism experience, she is very excited about the class and contributing to The Claw. Khan joined the class because she was interested in learning more about journalistic writing. She also found that “everyone was just so nice” when she visited the journalism room during the freshman open house.
Outside of school Khan is very interested in baking and lacrosse. Over the Covid lockdown, she started to find recipes and eventually opened her own business. This spring Khan plans on joining the girl's lacrosse team as a first-time player and can't wait to learn more about the sport.
