Before school on January 12th in the MUR, senior students were invited to have breakfast together while celebrating the start of their last semester. This event was hosted by the senior class officers of the Leadership class.
The food offered at the breakfast was coordinated by the parent advisors and provided by Food Services, along with some tasty additions brought by parent volunteers. There was a plethora of options to choose from, ranging from pancakes and donuts to eggs and bacon. Senior Olivia Roesch, who attended the breakfast, said, “My favorite part was eating with all of my friends and thinking about the next four months that we have together.”
Although this is a long standing tradition for seniors, there were some considerable changes made for this year’s event. Instead of the traditional “Aloha” theme that usually accompanies this breakfast, this year’s senior breakfast was themed “Pajamas” to go hand in hand with the Winter Rally later that day.
This rally was also a new addition to Leadership’s festivities as a way for seniors to “start off the semester strong and bond with other people in my grade. Just getting second semester going on a good foot,” said senior Commissioner of Spirit Molly Dougherty.
The theme change was due to “the class officers wanted to do something different so they chose the decorations to be snowflakes/winter themed. This then led to how we thought about making the winter rally winter themed so we could repurpose the decorations we used for the breakfast,” said Leadership teacher Lindsay Webb-Peploe.
Overall, the breakfast ended up being a huge success with many members of the senior class coming to celebrate. “We had more people come to this breakfast since the pandemic,” said Webb-Peploe. Seniors were able to get together with their classmates and reminisce about the last four years they have spent together, while looking forward to their last semester.
