Elected ASB Officers’ Plans to Better the Campus
The ASB election results were released to the Campolindo community on March 10. Candidates sophomore Emory Hsaio, junior Michael Chu, junior Madison Soun, and junior Riley Regan have been elected to represent the school body for the coming year.
Hsaio, the new ASB Treasurer, found resounding success in his campaign against two junior competitors. According to Hsaio, his campaign strategy was to “gain a large majority of the sophomore votes and have the juniors split the votes.” He then stated that “passing out candy to people is a great campaign strategy that [he] would recommend to everybody.” As the ASB treasurer Hsaio plans to initiate a plethora of fundraisers and hopes to “raise a record amount of money in the next canned food drive.” Hsaio comes into office with high hopes that he will be “the best treasurer in Campo history.”
Madison Soun will fill the role of ASB Secretary next year after winning uncontested and intends “to make Campolindo more inclusive and welcoming throughout the entire campus.” The first mark Soun hopes to make on the campus is to “make the freshmen feel welcome and improve the sometimes cliquey environment at Campo.” Soun also plans to “make equity clubs far more noticeable because they sometimes go unnoticed.”
Having been elected ASB Vice President in an uncontested campaign, Michael Chu plans to improve the social life on campus. Chu’s main hope is to “create an equal school environment that focuses on inclusivity in all aspects on the campus. For his first act as Vice President, Chu plans to lead a freshman orientation that “gets the year started right.” Chu also hopes to ensure that all extracurricular activities get their fair share of recognition to encourage more participation.
After running uncontested, Riley Regan will take on the role of ASB president for Campolindo. Her initial plans are to “integrate the freshman into the Campolindo Community better than before,” she hopes that she can make the freshmen “feel as if they belong on campus and also find a place that they can consider their home, whether it be sport, class or club.” Regan will be in charge of leading the 4th period leadership class and representing the student body in a variety of events including open house. Regan also hopes to provide the many incoming leadership students with “a home in leadership, hopes and that they can put their passion to work.” Reagan is also excited to see dramatic growth in the Leadership class size; next year there will be over 70 students, which she believes will increase the impact that Leadership can have on the campus.
With leadership roles filled by new faces, changes to the campus are inevitable. The new ASB officers plan to “put equity at the forefront of everything they do and are excited about all of the incoming students’ passion for diversity,” Regan said.
