March Madness Dance Celebrates 3-Day Weekend
The March Madness themed dance on St. Patrick’s day took place on March 17 in the quad featuring a DJ, colorful lights, and indoor Just Dance follow-along videos. The dance, lasting from 8:00-9:30pm, had students dressed in a variety of sports jerseys to go along with the March Madness theme.
Freshman Keira Verprauskus said her favorite part about this event was the dancing. “I think that the back-to-school dance was really fun, and I think that my favorite was probably this [dance] or the back-to-school dance.”
Similarly, freshman Clea Lee said her favorite thing about this dance was “being with all my friends and getting to dance with them.”
However, Lee agreed that the back-to-school dance was her favorite dance of the year thus far. “I think that the DJ for the March Madness dance was not as good [as the back-to-school dance] and the silent disco from Homecoming was also not very good.”
Verprauskaus also noted that she preferred this dance over Homecoming: “I didn’t love all the activities [at Homecoming], but this one was more fun [because] I got to see all my friends dancing.”
Differing from Verprauskus and Lee’s opinions, freshman Aislinn Comerford felt that “the March Madness dance was not as fun as Homecoming. Even though some people have different opinions, I liked Homecoming better,”
Verprauskus’s favorite song played was “Baby” by Justin Bieber, which she requested the DJ to play. Comerford said her favorite song played was “the YMCA,” which was played briefly.
Lee said that Campo “definitely should” have another dance for all grades. Overall, the March Madness dance provided students with a fun night of being with their friends, celebrating the basketball tournament and celebrating the 3 day weekend. Students hope to have 1 more dance before the end of the year.
