JumpingForCovid Supports American Red Cross
The JumpingForCovid Club hosted a fundraiser at Chipotle in support of the American Red Cross on January 11.
In an effort to help the cause, “Chipotle offered to host the fundraiser and supporters were able to order Chipotle online and 33% of the proceeds went to the American Red Cross,” said sophomore club president Sehej Johal. With Chipotle’s help and generosity, the JumpingForCovid Club was able to raise over $1000 this past month alone. All of the funds were immediately and directly sent to the American Red Cross.
Additionally, the student-run club held a friendly jump-roping competition to help raise money in the battle against COVID-19. Johal led directing this fundraiser and primarily used social media for advertising methods to spread the word of the club. “So far, we have used Facebook and Instagram to promote JumpingForCovid, so that more people can take part in the fundraiser,” she said.
JumpingForCovid promotes participating in community events in a fun and socially-distant way. By taking a simple video of you jumping rope you can raise awareness about the club. Johal encouraged those interested to join his team and said, “People who participate in the fundraiser can exercise while doing the virtual jump-roping challenges, and help our healthcare workers by donating to the American Red Cross. It’s a win-win situation!”
Sophomore Maya Gottfried participated in the fundraiser. She treated her and her family to burritos while donating to the cause. “I am so grateful that the Campolindo community offers such fun and easy ways to donate to great associations,” Gottfried said.
For those who were unable to participate in the fundraiser, there are still plenty of ways to get involved. You are more than welcome to donate at JumpingForCovid’s GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jumpingforcovid/
Your donation will support the student journalists of Campolindo High School's The Claw. Your contribution will allow us to produce more issues and cover our annual website hosting costs.
