The Moraga Youth Involvement Committee (MYIC) collected school supplies and money donations for their backpack drive. The supplies and money will go to Shelter, Inc.
The donations were collected door-to-door and at a booth in front of CVS Pharmacy last spring. Mina Arasteh, a member of the MYIC, said, “It’s good that we are staying local, and helping out the community.”
The proceeds are going to needy children in Contra Costa County, according to Arasteh. “We collected over one thousand dollars,” Arasteh added. “It was an amazing outpour of generosity from the community.
It is expected that the donations will be ready to go to Shelter Inc. in May. Member and junior Gaby Gryko said, “There are enough supplies for the freshman class, to be honest.”
