The second semester of junior year is known to be the most stressful time in a high school experience. While the second semester may not be stressful for some students, its arrival means that most students need to focus. Some Campo juniors shared their thoughts and feelings about putting all their focus into their schoolwork during the second semester.
In order to succeed, junior Grace Getze believes that some new folders and highlighters will help her get through the second semester. Getze stated, “My goals are to be more on top of my school work and set myself up for success by having new school supplies.” Having new materials is important to Getze, but she also spoke about how being a junior is tough and can be demanding. “I am definitely stressed, but I need to keep myself motivated. There is so much work to do and I need to find ways in order to not be as worried about this semester,” Getze shared.
Junior Jack Simmons is deciding that making some modifications to his school schedule will help him in the second semester. Simmons stated, “This year during junior year I’ve been making some changes especially in the second semester. I am just staying on top of homework and doing it for the week ahead so I can have more free time later on.” Simmons is making sure that he gets all his work done so he can have as much time to himself as possible. “It is for sure a bigger change from last semester,” Simmons shared.
While Simmons is making sure he can make as many changes as possible in order for him to succeed for the second semester, junior Dylan Cereghino is doing the opposite. Cereghino stated, “I am not changing my ways from last semester. I have been completely locked in, and I will stay locked this semester.” Cereghino has a lot of confidence going into this second semester and is going to make sure he is “Maintaining a high GPA with good grades while balancing being an athlete,” Cereghino added.
Some juniors believe that handling the stress of the second semester can be very challenging, while others are looking at this semester as a time for growth. Overall, the 2026 junior class is entering the hardest semester of high school and the majority of students have a different outlook on how this semester will go for them.
