This school year has beckoned in new, exciting lifestyle trends. From Rainbow sandals to Owala bottles, chill and summery vibes seem to be setting the tone for 2024-2025.
The light brown Rainbow sandals bring a casual, natural style perfect for the summer heat. Some students have been spotted around campus adopting this trend.
Freshman Ava Sills describes her style as, “more basic, mostly jeans shorts and tank tops.” She primarily learns about trends on social media. While being on campus, Sills has noticed certain trends, like the Stanley cups, phasing out. She said, “Sometimes people make fun of the Stanleys because they’re so big…I think people mostly use them at home.”
Sills has also noticed the more avid interest in, “cheetah prints, jean skirts, and Adidas, [specifically] Sambas.” Sambas or “soccer shoes” were made for casual soccer pick up games. Now, they have become a stylish, casual option to downscale a more elevated or expensive outfit. Students can be both fashionable, fancy, and athletic all at once.
Overall, Sill thinks the most popular brands for this year are, “PacSun, Hollister, Brandy Melville and Addicted.” Hollister and Brandy Meville have been notoriously known as fast fashion brands however their popularity hasn’t wavered.
Junior Tori Gilbert thinks “Zara is super relevant now” and she has seen a lot of students wearing clothes from “Brandy Melville and Garage.” Sophomore Kiona McCasland has also noticed, “a lot of Aritzia [clothing around Lamorinda].”
Bodysuits from brands like Aritzia and Skims have been popular, coming in a variety of colors that can be easily paired with jeans and skirts.
Senior Sidd Iyer has observed people, “switching more to longer clothing like jeans…I’ve seen a lot of people wearing Levi’s…and New Balance shoes are popular.” Iyer also appreciates anchor brands that continue to dominate, “Nike is still really popular,” he said.
While many students like to stay hydrated using their Owala, Iyer wouldn’t personally, “invest in one because they seem really expensive.” However, many students enjoy choosing from the variety of colors. Many of the color patterns clash, for instance bright yellows with orange and pink. These can be a fun way to brighten up a school desk.
At Campo a wide collection of styles can be seen throughout campus, making it a unique and special environment. Gilbert thinks having the freedom to dress and accessorize, whether following streamlined trends or creating our own, is, “…important because everyone can express themselves and feel comfortable at school.”
