As fall approached and Quarter 1 came to an end, Campo students made goals and set expectations for the rest of the year.
Whether it be about sports, schools, or other extracurriculars, students of every grade level had their own milestones they wanted to reach or ambitions they planned to achieve.
Many seniors hoped to enjoy this school year, and make the most out of their final months on campus. Senior Sammie Lederle said, “I am hoping to have a fun senior year. I want to participate in a lot of the events at Campo because it is my last year.”
As well as seizing opportunities to make the year memorable, Campo seniors had many other goals and aspirations. Lederle added, “I want to finish my college applications before November and get those over with. I also want to keep up my grades. I think I will be able to fulfill these goals because Campo has a lot of resources to help us like the College and Career Center and teachers are helpful with academy time.”
With busy schedules and endless things to do, students reminded themselves to keep their goals reasonable. Senior Audrey Sakamoto said, “My goals are to try my hardest, do the best I can, attempt to get good grades but that isn’t the main focus, as much as knowing I did the best I could.”
In addition to trying their best in school and staying on top of assignments, many students at Campo aimed to excel in outside of school activities, such as sports.
Freshman Will Maguy explained his athletics-related goals, “I play water polo, so I want to help my team as much as I can and achieve our goal of winning NCS. I want to get good grades, meet new people, and work on my hobbies. I think I will be able to fulfill these goals if I work hard and stay determined.”
Many Campo students had differing goals depending on the seasons. Sophomore Isla Fitzmaurice said, “During the fall my focus is more on academics and getting back into a more organized routine whereas in the spring and summer there is more time to go do social things.”
Junior Mia Daly also had higher expectations for herself during the fall semester. Daly said, “I want to maintain good grades because with more challenging classes sometimes it is easier to let it slip at the beginning because of all the social events. I think balancing the two is my main goal. I think it is easier to set higher goals for yourself in the fall because during the spring burnout is a really big thing.”
In academics, athletics, and other activities across the board, students at Campo had long lists of hopes and dreams for this fall.
