Varsity boys’ basketball will play in the first round of the North Coast Sectional Division III Championship on February 19. A closed NCS Seeding Meeting in San Ramon on February 17 will determine the match-ups for the tournament.

According to team member Matt McCue, top Division III team Bishop O’Dowd will be the toughest opponent. “Bishop O’Dowd has the number 1 recruit in the nation for the sophomore class,” said McCue. Ivan Rabb, Bishop O’Dowd’s star power forward, posted 24 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks against Sacramento High School on January 21.

The NCS tournament will be conducted in a “single elimination” format, meaning that any team that loses a game is out. “We need to win the next 3 games to be in the number 2 seed,” said McCue.

Campolindo is listed as #22 in MaxPreps’ “Northern California Top 25 high school boys basketball rankings,” while Bishop O’Dowd is listed at #2.

Following a win against Las Lomas, the Cougars stand with a record of 7-3 within the DFAL, and have a record of 17-7 overall.

According to the 2012-2013 NCS Championship Bulletin, a team must have an overall winning record in order to qualify for the NCS tournament. It is likely that, no matter how Campolindo fares in its final regular season games against Acalanes and Alhambra (on February 12 and 14 respectively), they are on their way to the post season.
