Boy’s Basketball tryouts were held for the upcoming 2011-2012 season in the gym November 7 through 9. Approximately 50 players came out to vie for spots on the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams.
“We were looking for players who gave 100% effort and left it all out on the court,” first-year varsity head coach Matt Watson said. “Our team should be pretty small this year, so we were also looking for big guys to help us out.”
Although it is his first year at the helm, Watson is familiar with the program, as he has been an assistant coach for the varsity squad under former head coach Whirlow for the last few years. Because he knows what the boys are capable of, Watson has high expectations for the program this year.
“My goal for us this year would be to make it deep into the NCS playoffs, and just give it our best effort. We had a great group of guys come out for tryouts this week and I have no doubt in my mind that they will be able to step up to the task.”
The Varsity season tips off at 12:30pm this Saturday against the Concord High Minute Men.
