Spring Spirit Starts with Chalk Art
March 27, 2014
Spring Week began on Monday with a “Chalk Contest” during lunch in the quad. Leadership organized the contest, which had students drawing on the pavement of the quad with chalk.
The contest was not actually competitive, as there were no winners nor prizes. According to Leadership student Cameron Atwood, the purpose was, “just for people to come out and draw with some chalk.”
Although the contest was staged in the quad, chalk pictures spread across campus by the end of lunch.
Freshman Claire Matranga said, “It was fun, and now we get to see the art across the campus.”
Atwood said this was the first time the contest had ever taken place, and it was a chance “to get the word out” and have a more “intense” contest next year.
Leadership specifically encouraged AP Art students to participate in the event, the it was open to all students.
