Electronic music duo Big Gigantic performed at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco to a sold-out crowd October 6th. Hailing from Boulder, Colorado, Big Gigantic is composed of two members, saxophonist/DJ Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken. The 3rd stop for the band’s Uprising Tour, opened by dubstep artist GRiZ, was highly energetic and exciting.
The stage setup included two massive columns of LED lights, where each member performed, that flashed intricate designs while the band played each song. Big Gigantic incorporated live instrumentation while mixing studio tracks on a laptop. While many DJ’s fail to execute an exciting live show, Big Gigantic brought a fresh twist on electronic music.
Throughout the night, Big Gigantic impressed the crowd with a well-seasoned set list. The Big G’s diverse set list kept the show interesting and full of surprises for all of the attendees. Opening with the thunderous “Rise and Shine,” Big Gigantic captivated the audience with many songs off of their new album Nocturnal. Other songs performed included “Beginning Of The End” and “Sky High.” Big Gigantic also performed covers from other artists, from Madeon’s “Icarus” to Waka Flocka Flames’ “Hard In The Paint.”
Big Gigantic previously came to San Francisco for the 2012 Outside Lands Music Festival this past August. Unable to bring their full stage setup to the festival due to time constraints, Big Gigantic was finally able to put on their more intimate, full live show for the Bay Area. “We’re so glad we got to bring everything for you guys!” said Dominic Lalli. To the audience’s delight, Lalli promised that the band would return soon.
